The Joy Bucket – All About Giving Joyously

If you have attended an ACC service you know that we don’t pass around a tithing or offering basket. There are a few reason’s we do this:
1 – People who haven’t grown up in church (and even some who have) believe that churches are all about taking your money. This definitely is not the case when the church is functioning properly, however when we have people join our community for celebration who believe this and then we pass around an offering basket, it reinforces that myth.
2 – Even people who do give often feel guilty when an offering basket comes around and they aren’t giving at that exact moment.
This is the verse from the New Testament that we follow in regards to our giving model
2 Corinthians 8:11-12
“…Let the eagerness you showed in the beginning be matched now by your giving. Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly.”
Our friends at Eagle’s Rest Foundation recently posted something similar on FaceBook that I wanted to share:
“So Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and all the others who were specially gifted by the LORD and were eager to get to work. Moses gave them the materials donated by the people of Israel as sacred offerings for the completion of the sanctuary. But the people continued to bring additional gifts each morning. Finally the craftsmen who were working on the sanctuary left their work. They went to Moses and reported, ‘The people have given more than enough materials to complete the job the LORD has commanded us to do!’ … Their contributions were more than enough to complete the whole project.” Exodus 36:2–5, 7The people brought their gifts willingly, enthusiastically, and the gifts were more than enough. God furnished his people with enough resources to get his work done and have plenty left over for their own needs. Do you give with this in mind, that what you bring will be more than enough and that there will be plenty left over for you?”
Walking with God: Conversations with God

It takes a look at the numerous examples that we have of intimate conversations between real people and God. Zina invites us to have our own real and intimate Conversations with God.
